The Quarry Golf Course rambles in the Cementville section of San Antonio where the old Alamo Quarry and a cement-making company were located. Foster s design is a tale of two nines with contrasting looks and characteristics that make The Quarry Golf Course so much fun to play. The front nine sports a distinctly Scottish links-style feel. Rolling hills, high grass, reeds, and heather define the nearly treeless landscape. Creeks and streams frequently enter the fray, but you ll have plenty of opportunities to play bump-and-run shots along the ground. The beautiful back nine of The Quarry Golf Course spreads out entirely within the abandoned quarry that dates back more than a century. Towering, 100-foot limestone walls encase three sides of the playing field. Sun-bleached limestone ridges set the tone on several holes. The most dramatic and memorable test of the round is the par-3 17th, where you play from one ridge to another and must fly your ball over a deep ravine framed by a 40-foot waterfall.
