About Harry L. Jones Sr. Golf Course
Harry L. Jones Sr. Golf Course was founded in 1984, with its first facility being the John Adams Tennis Center and then in 1985 came the addition of the softball and soccer complex. This just wasn`t enough for the 400-acre park project. The city landlords decided to add a golf course. The key to their final decision on a golf course was that there wasn`t anything else that could be built on a landfill.
Architect Kidwell & Hurdzan Inc., an environmental conscientious architect company, was chosen to draw up the plans for the 7680-yard golf course. In 1987 Renaissance Park Golf Course was opened. After 8 years Harry L. Jones Sr. Golf Course went under the architect pencil one more time. In 1995 the golf course closed for renovation (A much needed face-lift). The decision was to make the course shorter and more player friendly for the public.
After one full year of planning, Renaissance Park Golf Course reopened its doors in the year 1996. Now in 2002 Harry L. Jones Sr. Golf Course is one of Charlotte`s Premier Public Golfing Facilities.
