About Glade Valley Golf Club
Among the most popular public golf facilities in the mid-Atlantic region, Glade Valley Golf Club offers a well manicured 18-hole course that plays nearly 6,900 yards from the tips. The course, which was designed by Jim Reck, opened for play in 1991. It is nestled in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains, laid out over gently rolling terrain. The holes make their way through mature hardwoods and natural habitat. Water comes into play on several of them, and the greenside bunkers can be treacherous. The no. 1 handicap hole, the 474-yard par-4 10th is fairly straight, but the length of the hole makes par or better very difficult. Add in a pond right of the green, and you can see why it's difficult. There are certainly opportunities to score, especially on the par 5s. The ninth is under 500 yards, and while there's a slight dogleg, big hitters often try to reach this green in two. The golf course has a good finishing stretch as well, ending with a solid par 5, long par 3 and, and a par-4 18th, which features a large fairway bunker on the left side and a well-guarded green. The course also offers four sets of tees, starting at just under 5,000 yards, so all levels of players can enjoy it. Besides the golf course, Glade Valley Golf Club offers a driving range, short-game area, and practice putting green. Lessons are also available from the club's golf pros. And inside the barn-like clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop as well as a restaurant.
