About Perdido Bay Golf Club

The former home of the Pensacola Open, Perdido Bay Golf Club is a challenging and beautiful layout that will challenge and entertain every level of player. Perido Bay played host to the aforementioned PGA Tour event from 1978-'87. The likes of Jack Nicklaus, Tom Kite, Curtis Strange and Payne Stewart competed in the event. The course first opened in 1963 but got a redesign in 2001 by Bill Amick and Bill Bergin, lengthening the layout to more than 7,000 yards. The par-72 Perdido Bay Golf Club course has five sets of tees, starting at 5,176 yards. More than a half dozen lakes loom large, with water coming into play on the majority of the holes. Many of the holes are also quite narrow, putting a premium on accuracy. And despite being relatively flat, some strategic mounds add variety and difficulty. Many of the large undulating greens are elevated, as are the tees. The course's no. 1 handicap hole is the 450-yard, par-4 10th. The long hole has a lake entirely down the left side. Water also crosses the fairway on the approach shot. In addition to the course, Perdido Bay also has excellent practice facilities that include a driving range, practice bunkers, chipping green and putting green. Golf instruction is also available from the professional staff. Inside the clubhouse is a well-stocked golf shop with all the latest apparel and accessories, as well as the Legends Bar & Grille. The clubhouse restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the menu includes wings, burgers, wraps and salads.
