About Highlands Reserve Golf Club
Located 10 minutes from DisneyWorld, Highlands Reserve Golf Club is anything but a typical Florida golf course. Designed by Mike Dasher and opened in 1988, the course, which sits on long sand shelf near the town of Davenport, has elevation changes as great 120 feet. The high point comes on the green of the first hole, a 387-yard par 4 hole. The course's low point can be found in the basin of the 13th fairway, a short par 4 reachable in two by long hitters. There are natural waste areas, strategic bunkering, crowned greens and lots of hole variety with many of the fairways and holes lined by pine trees. Highlands Reserve has four sets of tees, ranging from 4,532 yards to 6,702 yards. There are back-to-back par 5s on the eighth and nine holes and several par 4s that are drivable for long hitters, depending on wind direction. The fairways are fairly open, but the undulating, and sometimes small greens can be difficult, which is what gives this course much of its character. In addition to the golf course, Highlands Reserve also has excellent practice facilities, which include a driving range with target greens, practice bunker and putting green. Golf instruction is available for all levels of players. The golf shop is well-stocked with the latest in apparel, accessories and equipment. And the snack bar in the clubhouse services golfers before, during and after their rounds with a nice selection of sandwiches, snacks, hot dogs and beer.
